The Righteous Talk

”The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out. The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable.” Proverbs 10:31-32. Our lips know what is acceptable through our sense of discernment with Holy Spirit guidance and based on God’s word.

”The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out. The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable.” Proverbs 10:31-32

This scripture that contains Solomon’s proverbs brings forth the contrast between the righteous and wicked folk.

In the ages of old, tongues were cut out for blasphemy, treasonable speeches or profane swearing. Although this punishment is not used nowadays, the fate of the wicked’s perverted tongues is ruin. As the love of God is not in their hearts, so the law of kindness is also not on their lips. Our hearts are revealed in our words. Therefore we believers, as God’s righteous men and women, should be known for the wisdom we speak. If we speak in a crooked or twisted way; because we misuse it, God will ensure we are no longer able to use our ability to speak.

Our lips know what is acceptable through our sense of discernment with Holy Spirit guidance and based on God’s word. When we speak, our words ought to be wise. Some of us worry that we will say the wrong thing. But a good man always says the right thing. If we trust in God, then God will help us. If we study the Bible, then we will speak God’s words. If we pray, then God will guide us. We do not need to worry. We need to be humble. If we serve God, then we will not speak evil words. We will not even know how to speak evil words! On the contrary, other people will benefit when we speak. Let us use our mouths to praise the One who created us, who protects us from perishing to doom, and who blesses us with His mercy, grace, and love.
