“When I cry out to You, then my enemies will turn back; this I know, because God is for me.”

If you have a friend then you must have an enemy. We all have enemies, no matter how hard we chase after peace. The moment we are on God’s side, the devil and his cohorts become our enemies. The enemy’s agenda is to steal, kill and destroy us(John 10:10). But those who put their trust in God, are confident like David, that ‘God is for us’ and the enemy doesn’t have a choice but to turn back. It is quite overwhelming when we face opposition or hostility and many enemies rise simultaneously. There is, but an alternative way to fight your enemies head-on.

It is written in Proverbs 16:7 – “When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him”. Spiritual warfare is not fought based on worldly strategies. You cannot fight your spiritual enemies on your own strength but only on your knees crying out to God. He is your fortress, warrior and deliverer. When He rises up on your behalf there is no one who can stand before you(Psalm 68:1). If you want God to fight your battles, you have to be connected to Him in prayer and get rooted in His word, daily. When you cry out to God, Heaven comes to fight for you!

Take it to God in prayer, for only God can turn your opposition around. In the previous verse(Psalm 56:8), the Psalmist mentions that every tear we shed, He records forever in His Book. So today, get intimate with God and rest in the knowledge that He will take care of your enemies.
