For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. – Psalms 103:11

 Author Frederick M. Lehman described God’s love in his well-known hymn:

Could we with ink the ocean fill,

And were the skies of parchment made

To write the love of God above

Would drain the ocean dry;

Nor could the scroll contain the whole,

Though stretched from sky to sky.

God’s love is so great that we can in no way measure it. It is indeed unfathomable to think of the greatness of the LORD’s love toward His own. To know that His loyalty never runs out toward His fallible creatures is overwhelmingly impressive.

God’s love is immeasurably high, deep and wide. We can never wholly describe this love; one can only experience it. It is limitless. And this great love is steadfast – not changing, consistent, dependable and always available. It’s the love that connects and does not condemn us.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!

As God’s children, we can live in light of His merciful, unconditional love and perfect peace. We live redeemed from death and sin’s burden of guilt and shame. When we ask for a pardon for our sins, the promise the Lord Jesus makes to us is – as the east is from the west, the Lord removes our wrongdoings from us.

“O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out.” Knowing the truth about our Lord Jesus Christ, our heart should rest in Him.
