As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people both now and forevermore.

What’s our outlook when we’re besieged by problems? Do we look at our problems from a worldly perspective and get intimidated? Or do we view the situation from above and see God’s protection over our lives?

Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego were walking the plank, so to speak, towards a blazing furnace. Death was imminent, but their faith in God was more than evident. In fact, when the king gave them a final chance to bow before his gods and avoid death, they replied, “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand.” – Daniel 3:17

Faith is a mighty tool in our war against satan. But there is another side to that coin. It’s commitment!

We don’t pay much attention to what Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego told the king in the verse that followed. They went on to say, “But even if God does not (save us), we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” – Daniel 3:18

Are we as committed to God as Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego? Then we wont have to face any problem on our own. Even when others are consumed by fire, God will surround us with His protection, like the psalmist says, both now and forever more.
