As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12

Transgression means to break a law or a moral rule.  It can also mean failure to do your duty.  The psalmist says here in this verse that as far as the east is from the west, God has removed our sins or transgressions from us.  It means that God has removed them and we will not be seeing them or meeting them ever in our life.  It is that far.  We will not get to see our sins again.

This whole thing talks about the forgiveness and the love of God.  God is so rich in His mercy and love.  He is quick to forgive us our sins and cares too much about us in that He seems to forget our sins like we never committed them at all.  He has washed us clean with His precious blood.  He has bought us with a price, His blood.  He has made us His own.  Whenever the devil tries to accuse us of our past sins, Jesus stands up for us and protects us.  Whenever God the Father looks at us, He looks at the blood of Jesus upon our lives and not our sins.   What a merciful God we have! What if God had not forgiven us of our sins and constantly punished us every single day for all of our sins?  He has removed all of our sins/transgressions away from us just like how the east is far away from the west.

Be thankful to this compassionate God whom we call Jesus.  He loved us so much that He gave us His life so that we might be called the sons of God or children of God.  Rejoice in His love.
